It’s time for our new best horror movies of 2018. Make no mistake about it. 2018 is the year that horror has truly gone mainstream. I can’t remember a previous year, whether 2016, or 2017 that so many good horror movies hit mainstream cinema’s, and that streaming services like Netflix produced so many quality horror-themed Movies & TV Shows. 2018’s standout horror title is sure to be Hereditary, an arthouse that appealed to movie buffs and received much media attention. The Box Office Hit, however, appears to be John Krasinsky’s A Quiet Place.

Cargo
A true Netflix original that might seem like a slow and bleak ‘The Road’ type film, but is besides its apocalypse zombie topic, and bound to end bad perspective, an enjoyable watch. We are seeing more movies lately that surpass the typical zombie movie genre. Cargo shows some brutal and horrific zombie bashing, and is not afraid to show blood, but mainly shows the strength of humans when it comes to protecting their loved ones.
Synopsis: Martin Freeman plays a father who has to protect his daughter from zombies, and has to find a way to give her a chance for a future in post-apocalyptic virus-infected Australia.
Cold Hell
Cold Hell or Die Hölle is a Turkish-Austrian Action Horror Thriller by Oscar-winning in Vienna based director Stefan Ruzowitzky’s.
Synopsis: In Austria a Taxi Driver of Turkish descent turns into a vigilante and stands at odds with a sadistic killer who targets female Muslim sex workers, and commits religiously motivated murders.
The Endless
A Brainy meta-horror on a small budget. But Endless proofs that low-budget horrors are in now way less powerful. It’s a clever well-written film that plays with our perceptions, and leaves much to the imagination, thereby increasing the terror.
Synopsis: The two filmmakers star as brothers who go back to their childhood UFO cult. They fled the cult years ago, but now upon revisiting it they come to believe the beliefs of the cult are not as insane as they though.
Mohawk
Synopsis: In the early Unites States it was not so pleasant to be an Indian. In 1812 War, a female Mohawk battles a troop of vengeful American Soldiers.
Mom and dad
Psychologist will be deeply disturbed. Kids should feel safe with their parents, as their parents should be the ones to protect them. In Mom & Dad the kids will have trauma’s for life – a mass hysteria causes their parents to hunt their own kids.
Synopsis: A mass hysteria that started without any real reason causes parents to become violent towards their own children. During these 24 Hours a young girl and her brother have to find ways to survive their parents fury.
A Quiet Place
The Office’s John Krasinki has turned director, and he did so with great success. He gave us an adrenaline action packed thriller horror that played very well with audiences worldwide.
Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world the last inhabitants of earth have to be constantly on their guard. They cannot make a sound because highly dangerous alien entities are out to get them and while the aliens are blind, they can hear extremely well.
Mon Mon Mon Monsters
Synopsis: In Taiwan a group of young teenage boys capture a man-eating monster, and have no idea what to do next.
Ravenous (Les Affamés)
Synopsis: The bodies of locals in a small town in rural Quebec are falling apart. Now they are going after their loved ones. A few have managed to survive, and find a hiding place in the woods.
Revenge
Synopsis: Three well-to-do men get the surprise of their lifetime. One of them made the mistake of bringing his young mistress on the guys’ getaway. They treat her the wrong way; she happens to have excellent hunting skills.
Insidious: The Last Key
Synopsis: Parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet, as she is drawn back to her ghostly childhood home, where the terror began.

Bullet Head
Synopsis: A dog horror movie. Three hardened criminals on the run for the cops hide out in an abandoned warehouse. An unstoppable killer dog is waiting for them inside.
Downrange
Synopsis: Not all Snipers are American Heroes. Especially when they are scary killers. After a group of friends gets stranded due to a flat tire, they become the targets of a sniper.
Winchester
Synopsis: Ensconced in her sprawling California mansion, eccentric firearm heiress Sarah Winchester believes she is haunted by the souls of people killed by the Winchester repeating rifle.
Marrowbone
Synopsis: A young man and his three younger brothers and sisters, who have kept the death of their mother secret because they don’t want be separated, are plagued by a disturbing presence in their big old mansion.
Unfriended: Dark Web
Synopsis: Matias is video calling his friends, and shares with them the disturbing contents he discovered on a new laptop he in found the lost-and-found bin. This does not go unnoticed by the previous owner. The hunt for the laptop begins.

Pyewacket
Synopsis: Never curse your mother. An angry young teenage girl performs an occult ritual in the woods to have a witch go after her mother, and accidentally awakens an old power in the woods.
Veronica
Synopsis: After playing a game of Ouija with two classmates gets too intense and escalates, a young Spanish girl is haunted by something when it gets dark. She has to protect her little brothers and sisters from it, while not going crazy from fear herself.
The Strangers: Prey at Night
Synopsis: A family of four staying at a secluded mobile home park for the night are stalked and then hunted by three masked psychopaths.

The Lodgers
Synopsis: An Irish Gothic tale set in 1920’s Ireland. A brother and a sister reside in an old estate that is slowly falling apart. But at night the house gets taken over by an ominous presence.
Unsane
Synopsis: After being involuntarily committed to a mental institution because she mentioned suicidal thoughts, a young woman believes that her stalker is among the staff. Is this paranoia, schizophrenia, or real?
Cold Skin
Synopsis: A scary and remote island is the arena in which a young man has to fight for his life. Soon upon arrival he knows things will get strange and scary real soon.
Upgrade
Synopsis: A sci-fi horror set set a near-future where technology dictates all aspects of life follows a technophobe called Grey. Despite his hatred for technology, he discovers that the only way out is via a special chip.

Hereditary
In our minds one of the best and most disturbing horror movies of all time. Hereditary. It is slow-paced, but highly effective and terribly unnerving. It should be noted, however, that not everyone liked it. The public gave it a D+ Cinemascore.
Synopsis: A family is left behind with the terrifying secrets of the grandmother who passed away. The daughter who was already a weird girl, gets even weirder, and soon the secrets start to unravel, with grave consequences for all.
Truth or Dare
Synopsis: Truth or Dare is supposed to be an innocent and harmless game. Not anymore. Something out there is punishing those who lie or refuse to do what they are dared to do.
Slender Man
Synopsis: Responsible for the disappearance and the haunting of numerous children and teen, a horrifying tall figure with creepy long arms and a blurry face is the object of The Slender’s Man’s story.

Synopsis: The origin story behind the story. How did society become so twisted that having one night of total no-rules mayhem and killing seemed like the a good idea?
The Nun
Synopsis: In Romania a man turns op dead under very mysterious circumstances. A Priest, Father Burke, is sent there to commence an investigation.
The House with the Clock in it’s Walls
Synopsis: There is a clock that possesses about the power to bring about the end of times of the world. Lewis Barnavelt helps is uncle, a magician, to find this dark and powerful object.
Halloween
Synopsis: Laurie Strode is still haunted by Michael Myers, the young murderer who went on a killing spree 40 years ago. Now it is time for their final confrontation.
Suspiria
Synopsis: A Dance Company that enjoys international prestige is surrounded by a darkness that will consume some of its members. Some will be lost while others will be resurrected.
